Shopify collects extensive categories including sensitive personal data (government IDs, precise location via Shop, email inbox contents), and combines information across merchants and services for profiling under its Enhanced Services / Shopify Network Intelligence features.

Personal data is shared with advertising, marketing, and analytics partners for personalized advertising, which the company acknowledges may constitute 'sharing' or 'targeted advertising' under privacy laws, with opt-out (not opt-in) as the mechanism.

Merchants retain ownership of their Materials but grant Shopify a broad worldwide, transferable, sublicensable license to use, distribute, modify, and create derivative works, plus an irrevocable waiver of moral rights, with the license surviving account termination to the extent Shopify requires it.

No mandatory arbitration language is present; instead, disputes must be brought exclusively in specified courts based on the merchant's billing address region, a court venue clause rather than arbitration.

Subscription fees auto-renew and are billed in advance, domain names auto-renew unless deactivated by the user, and Shopify explicitly states it does not provide refunds.
