Strava may review direct-message history when a user is reported

The terms allow Strava to review direct-message chat history and content when a user is reported, so messages may be reviewed by the service in that situation.

The stated review of direct-message history and content applies when a user has been reported to Strava.

Strava uses information to develop and train AI models

Strava says it uses information to train, test and improve AI/ML models; it uses aggregated, de-identified information where possible, but not exclusively.

Your profile and activities are public by default for adults

For adults, profile and activities start visible to Everyone, including the public and search engines; other activity details, including precise location, may also be visible depending on your controls.

Strava may share information with marketing partners

Strava may disclose information to marketing partners or ad networks to promote its services, with consent where required; targeted-ad sharing has a separate opt-out.

For promotional disclosures to marketing partners or ad networks, the policy says consent applies where required; the opt-out is for third-party targeted-ad sharing.

Strava can use your content in ads; some rights last after deletion

The terms grant Strava a worldwide, royalty-free license to use content and activity or profile details in ads; most rights end on deletion, but listed items remain licensed indefinitely.

If you post or share content, the license generally ends when that content is deleted; public routes and segments, clubs you created, and support-channel posts may remain licensed indefinitely.

Strava can end access immediately, sometimes without notice

The terms allow immediate suspension or termination in certain circumstances, sometimes without notice; termination may remove access to services and delete account information, files and content.

Public routes and segments can remain after account deletion

Strava says public routes and segments remain available after you delete your account, so deleting your account does not necessarily remove those items from the service.

This matters if you delete your account.

The terms require individual arbitration unless you opt out

For most disputes, the terms require binding individual arbitration rather than class or representative claims; you may opt out in writing within 30 days, and small-claims cases are excepted.

The arbitration provision has stated exceptions, including intellectual-property disputes, and does not bind you if you opt out within the stated period.

The terms seek to limit Strava’s liability for claims

The terms seek to exclude many damages and cap Strava’s total liability at the greater of $50 or fees paid in the prior 12 months, where applicable law allows.

The terms say some or all of these limits may not apply in jurisdictions that do not allow them.

The terms set a one-year deadline for claims against Strava

The terms say claims related to your relationship with Strava must be filed within one year after they arise or they will be permanently barred.

Paid subscriptions renew unless canceled at least 24 hours early

If you choose a paid plan, it renews each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends; cancellation takes effect at the end of that period.

This applies if you choose subscription-only features and a paid plan.

Paid subscriptions are generally nonrefundable under the terms

If you buy a subscription, Strava says it provides no refunds or credits unless the terms specifically provide otherwise.

This applies if you purchase a subscription.
